The Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp in Burton's Alice in Wonderland, will look like this according to the latest news by Katey Rich. This might not be the final version, since the movie is going to be motion-captured animation. But this concept art image of the Mad Hatter - Depp looks still very much like other Tim Burton movie characters.
Even if they change it to suit the motion-capture version, the Mad Hatter will look bizarre.
Another report talks about the plans for the Alice movie to be shot in 3-D.
Apparently this has changed. Burton is using only standard 2-D film cameras on the set at the moment. It may be that Burton who hasn't worked in 3-D before is making the change to be able to direct the way he is used to.

We've been following the news of who' s going to be who in the new Alice in Wonderland film. Tim Burton's 3D film will be on US screens on March 5, 2010. The movie is going to be a big hit from the look of stars that keep joining the cast.
Here's what the impressive cast looks so far:
Mia Wasikowska as Alice
Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter
Michael Sheen as The Cheshire Cat
Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen
Anne Hathaway as The White Queen
Alan Rickman as The Caterpillar
Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum
Crispin Glover as The Knave of Hearts
Christopher Lee as either King of Hearts or The White Knight
Eleanor Tomlinson as Fiona Chataway:
Fiona Chataway is a character created especially for this film. She is Alice's spiteful peer who appears at the beginning of the film before Alice falls down the rabbit hole.
It'll be interesting to see who will be the important hurrying White Rabbit!
Another curious bit of news is how Johnny Depp is taking on his Mad Hatter character on the set. He is said to be enbracing his new role and amusing the crew with his mad behavior.
Tim Burton confirms, "Nobody plays oddballs better than Johnny and he's loving playing this one. He actually ate his hat the other day. No word of a lie, he jus bit into the brim and chewed."

He was actually Charles Lutwidge Dodgson.
"Lewis Carroll" was the pseudonym that Charles Lutwidge Dodgson created by translating his first and middle names into Latin, reversing their order, and translating them back into English. This happened in 1856 after he had begun writing humorous texts and stories to keep them separate from his serious mathematical writings which he published under his real name. How strange and funny is that?
