Who was Lewis Carroll?

Did you know that Lewis Carroll who wrote Alice's Adventures In Wonderland was not really Lewis Carroll at all?

He was actually Charles Lutwidge Dodgson.

"Lewis Carroll" was the pseudonym that Charles Lutwidge Dodgson created by translating his first and middle names into Latin, reversing their order, and translating them back into English.

This happened in 1856 after he had begun writing humorous texts and stories to keep them separate from his serious mathematical writings which he published under his real name.

How strange and funny is that?
